Code Red Update: In-Home Physiotherapy Services to continue in Manitoba
Since January 2021 Code Red has continued in Manitoba. We are privileged to say that as health professionals the province has deemed physiotherapists and physiotherapy visits as essential. We will, therefore, CONTINUE our services in the community. This decision has been made in line with provincial recommendations. Our office and physiotherapists will fully comply with the province of Manitoba’s public health orders while providing therapeutic treatments and assessments to both new and existing patients.
As part of our commitment in employing safe treatment methods our mobile physiotherapists will adhere to strict PPE (personal protective equipment) regulations set by Manitoba Shared Health. These include face shields, masks, eye protection and in some specific cases gloves and gowns. Our physiotherapists also keep detailed daily temperature logs. Furthermore, all patients will be screened prior to their mobile appointments with a COVID 19 questionnaire. Patients are highly encouraged to wear their own bought or home-made masks during treatments, and engaging in frequent hand washing/sanitization techniques.
Presently, our therapists are able to provide mobile physiotherapy services to patients in all settings including private homes, hospitals, personal care homes (PCHs), assisted living buildings, and supportive housing units. If a patient is located in a 3rd party facility (such as a personal care home) our office will contact the administrative and allied health personnel at the facility to ensure optimal organization and communication are in place, and to ensure permissions and PPE protocols are followed (as some facilities have stricter protocols than what is already mandated by the provincial public health orders). These individual facility rules will be followed without exception.
